JOCS FLORARS WINNER FOR THEATRE IN ENGLISH 2014

... and the winner for theatre in English in the Jocs Florals is David Esteban. Congratulations!!! This is his play.

THE WARRIOR GEORGE

Once upon a time in the county of Catalonia there was a dragon. The dragon was very strong and terrible. With his mouth it could blow and fire went out from there. The houses were destroyed and the animals died.  
Some people tried to fight against the dragon but they were all dead. The president decided that the two best warriors of the county had to play a tennis match and the winner had to fight the dragon. The winning warrior's name was George and fell in love with the earl's princess. 

On the 23th April we celebrate Saint George because George killed the dragon on that day. 

PRESIDENT: Who wants to fight the dragon? 
ALL THE PEOPLE: Not me, not us!!!
PRESIDENT: Ok, ok. Then I have to choose the warrior who has to fight the dragon. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: Why? WHY? 
PRESIDENT: Because nobody wants to fight the dragon.
ALL THE PEOPLE: How will you do it? 
PRESIDENT: No idea! 
ALL THE PEOPLE: WHo is the best warrior in the county? 
PRESIDENT: The best warrior of the county is George. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: And the second best? 
PRESIDENT: The second best warrior in the county is the king's son. He is Richard. Who wants to fight against the dragon? 
GEORGE: I want to fight the dragon. 
RICHARD: So do I. 
PRESIDENT: And now, what am I supposed to do?
ALL THE PEOPLE: We don't know!!
PRESIDENT: I've got an idea! George and Richard have to play a tennis match. The winner will fight the dragon. 
RICHARD: Ok, it's funny.
GEORGE: Ok, it's a good idea. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: Ok, it's fair for the two warriors.
PRESIDENT: The rules for the tennis match are: 
- You have to be the best of three sets. 
- You have to play with a shield. 
- You have to play without any shoes. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: And the tennis match, when is it? 
PRESIDENT: The tennis match starts in one minute. Richard and George, are you ready? 
GEORGE AND RICHARD (At the same time): We are ready! 
PRESIDENT: The first point is for Richard and the second is for George.

(One hour later) 

PRESIDENT: The first set is for George.
ALL THE PEOPLE: GEORGE!!! GEORGE!!! GEORGE!!!
PRESIDENT: The tennis match is very interesting, and the second set is for Richard. 

(Two hours later) 

ALL THE PEOPLE: Who's the winner? 
PRESIDENT: The winner is George. George is the warrior who will fight the dragon because he's the winner of the tennis match. 

(The dragon is in Catalonia) 

PRESIDENT: George!!! George!!! 
GEORGE: What is happening? 
PRESIDENT: The dragon is coming! You have to come and fight the dragon!
GEORGE: Ok, I'm coming! 
PRESIDENT: George, place your sword into the dragon's belly. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: Yes! Come on Georgie!

(After the battle, George prevails and kills the dragon. Then, the princess picks a flower and gives it to George)

PRINCESS: Because you killed the dragon I love you.
GEORGE: Thank you, I love you too. 

(Three days later in the church)

PRIEST: George, do you love the princess?
GEORGE: Yes, I do. 
PRIEST: Princess, do you love George? 
PRINCESS: Yes, I do. 
PRESIDENT: George and the princess are married now. 
ALL THE PEOPLE: Ohhhh, this is nice!

Juntament amb la composició, cal adjuntar un sobre blanc indicant el pseudònim i el curs. A l’interior, un paper amb el nom i cognoms de la persona.

A Christmas Carol

The English Department of Secondary Education of our school wants to offer our students singing a Christmas Carol. The video has been directed by the English and Science teacher, Sònia Jaimez, shot by the English and German teacher and the stars have been some students of 1st of ESO who have sung in a perfect way! Don't you think? We want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the English Department. Now enjoy the video. 

King/Queen of Boomland

Els alumnes de l'optativa de teatre en anglès han estat preparant durant vàries setmanes un sketch anomenat King/Queen of Boomland.

Plot: The queen/king of Boomland wants to visit the Queen of England. On his/her way to Buckingham Palace, he/she is stopped by the guards, who won't let him/her in. Will he/she finally have tea with the Queen? 

Tea break

Els alumnes de l'optativa de teatre han realitzar el seu primer sketch anomenat Tea Break. Ha estat la seva primera experiència com a actors i actrius. Valorem molt positivament el seu treball i dedicació.
